Eleven Hundred Candles Light up the Community for Purim
Every year IKAR, an innovative Jewish community in the heart of Los Angeles, curates a thoughtful gift package for the Jewish holiday of Purim. This year, IKAR commissioned Would Works to produce a unique wooden "traveling shabbat candle" for their gift bag. These small portable candles are perfect for outdoor shabbat dinners or for ceremonies on the go.
This was the largest unit order we have done to date and it was a great success!
According to Claire Wazana Meredith, the Membership & Community Engagement Manager at IKAR:
We were thrilled to be able to partner with Would Works and create a beautiful and meaningful product for our Mishloah Manot. The theme for our box brought together two major themes of Purim:
Giving gifts of sweetness and acts of justice. Would Works was a dream to work with and we were honored to be able to support their work.
Many thanks to IKAR for the opportunity to spread light and spread the word about Would Works!

Nick Offerman Partners with Would Works to Empower At-Risk Angelenos Through Woodworking
Nick Offerman has partnered with Would Works, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that teaches woodworking skills to at-risk Angelenos. These skills can lead to careers in industries like construction, set-building, and carpentry.
Beyond woodworking, Offerman highlights the “incredibly benevolent and warm humanism” at the heart of Would Works. "We're giving people … mental health, counseling, job counseling, life coaching. It's a place to say, 'Come on in, I see you, I care about you, I recognize the trouble you might be having. Here's a sandwich, here's a bowl of soup. Now, this is a hand plane,'" Offerman said.
